I’ve had a lot of vacuum cleaners in my day.
I will describe myself necessarily as a cleaning freak, but I have to have my digs clean nonetheless.
I’ve tried them all, not just the really expensive ones but also the inexpensive ones.
I had just worn out my $90 brand X Walmart special and was ready for something that would not only fit my budget but also fit my need for clean.
I’d seen the commercials on tv for the Shark and read a few quick Shark Navigator reviews, then I scoured the Internet looking for solid opinions and found plenty of positive comments such as:
- I was amazed at the dirt it pulled out and how fluffy my carpets look
- This vacuum is quieter than any of the others I’ve had
- This vacuum exceeded my expectations
Clearly, it was time for me to do a little more research.
Shark Navigator Reviews: The Basics
The Shark Navigator came recommended to me by a few friends online as the vacuum cleaner of choice with regard to both budget and clean power. Of particular note was the fact that this machine is easily maneuvered around obstacles, such as my not as neat as I’d like it to be living room.
Basically, this is down to the unique joint that allows you to work at angles without straining your wrists–this is similar to a universal joint is used in an automobile. It allows for easy rotation and does not any measurable friction to the equation. This is important to me because some machines–I’m talking to you Dyson–are very heavy for the job that they do.
But this machine is not only light and maneuverable it also has excellent accessories and a powerful motor. In this regard, it reminds me a lot of the Orecks that we’ve had over the years. They’re notoriously light as well as notoriously powerful. I say that the Oreck has the advantage with regard to being light. But I can honestly say that the Shark Navigator has the decided advantage with regard to cleaning power.
The onboard tools are really helpful if you have carpeted steps like I do. The ingenious design allows you to put the carpet attachment onto the end of the suction hose, which allows it to spin the brush fast and sweep up dirt you didn’t even know was there.
There’s also a crevice tool, but I find that the opening is a little bit too small when vacuuming underneath furniture–for instance, it does have a difficult time picking Cheerios up when using the crevice tool due to the size of the cheerio in relation to the opening.
I use a combination of the crevice tool and the furniture tool to get some of the little things done and keep the place looking nice.
I was absolutely 100% amazed and astounded the 1st time I used this vacuum cleaner in my living room as I had no idea how much dirt was being left behind by even the high-end machines like my Oreck and Dyson. Since this is a bagless model, with a clear bin, I could see years of missed dirt accumulating it really made me feel like the room was just that much cleaner.
Now, don’t get me wrong, the bin is plenty big but it filled up fast the 1st time since there was so much missed dirt from the other machines.
I’d read about this online, but was amazed to see in person just how nice my carpeting looked after just one use. There’s so much suction in this machine that the carpeting almost feels brand-new–it’s actually fluffier and feels good when you walk on it.
Even on our linoleum kitchen floor, where the beater bar on other machines serve simply to scattered dirt which means I had to sweep any way. There’s so much suction with this machine that it almost feels stuck to the linoleum and doesn’t miss anything.

I read a lot online about this machine and I was prepared not to be unduly impressed since I had several of the top-of-the-line vacuum cleaners. But,I have to give credit where credit is due: Shark Navigator reviews that I read online really told the story and I couldn’t be happier and my house couldn’t be cleaner!
